Councillor Myers Celebrates the Heart of Scarborough North at Inaugural Community Leader Awards
On Sunday, April 19, 2026, Councillor Jamaal Myers gathered with residents, volunteers, and community champions at Grandeur Palace Restaurant for the inaugural Scarborough North Community Leader Awards Reception, an afternoon dedicated to celebrating the everyday leaders who make Scarborough North thrive.
"Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of walking the sidewalks of almost every neighbourhood in our ward and witnessing first hand the incredible work of our community," said Councillor Myers. "This room was a reflection of that, full of people with compassion, people who care and look out for their neighbours and friends."
The reception, held during National Volunteer Week, brought together recipients from across the ward. Food bank organizers, youth coaches, housing advocates, cultural leaders, faith community volunteers, and local business owners were among those honoured for the difference they make in the lives of those around them.
Councillor Myers was joined by Samah Abdel Aziz, Manager of Programs and Community Services with Volunteer Toronto, to present the awards. He also thanked Grandeur Palace and owners Zoey Zhou and Stephen Huang for graciously hosting the celebration.
