[UPDATE] RAIN BARRELS GO ON SALE ON JULY 28 AT 2:00 PM

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

I am writing with an update on the City's Rain Barrel Savings Program.

Due to overwhelming demand for the resale on July 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM, the vendor's website suffered technical difficulties, and no rain barrels were able to be sold that day. Since then, City staff have been working closely with the vendor to fix the issue and improve the system.

I'm pleased to let you know that the program will reopen Thursday, July 28, at 2:00 p.m.

RAIN BARRELS GO ON SALE TUESDAY, JULY 28 AT 2:00 PM

The next round of subsidized rain barrels and downspout diverters, offered at an 80% subsidy, becomes available online today, Tuesday, July 28, at 2:00 p.m.

Barrels are limited to one per eligible address to keep things fair as demand continues to outstrip supply.

Rain barrels help reduce stormwater runoff during the intense storms Toronto has seen more of in recent years, and they cut down on outdoor water use for gardens and lawns during hot, dry summer stretches.

Given how quickly the last round disappeared, if you've been thinking about getting one, I'd recommend being ready right at 2:00 p.m. on July 28, 2026.
