April Community Events for Scarborough North

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

April is a busy and exciting month in Scarborough North! From recognising incredible community leaders and beautiful gardens to environment days, tax reminders, and cultural celebrations, there's something for everyone. Here's what's coming up this month.

Scarborough North Community Leader Award — Nominations Open

Deadline: April 10, 2026

Every day, residents across Scarborough North give their time and heart to strengthen our community. Nominations are now open for the Scarborough North Community Leader Award, which celebrates those who inspire and uplift those around them. It only takes a few minutes to highlight someone's impact — you'll be asked to share the nominee's name, your reason for nominating them, and a brief description of their contributions to our community.

2026 Garden Awards — Nominations Open

Scarborough North is full of passionate gardeners whose hard work brings beauty and pride to our neighbourhoods. As I visit different parts of the ward, I'll be surprising residents with Garden Awards to celebrate the gardens that brighten our streets. Know a garden that deserves recognition? Whether it's your own or a neighbour's, I'd love to hear about it. Contact my office if you need help submitting a nomination.

Sunday, April 5 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Join me for our first Environment Day of the season at Malvern Town Centre. Pick up free compost while supplies last, and bring household hazardous waste, electronics, and unwanted items for safe disposal and recycling. You may even find an Easter egg or two!

2025 Vacant Home Tax Declaration Reminder

Deadline: April 30, 2026

A friendly reminder that all residential property owners must submit their 2025 Vacant Home Tax declaration by April 30, 2026 — even if your home is your principal residence. Declarations can be completed online through the City's portal or in person at Scarborough Civic Centre or City Hall. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact 311 or my office.

Here's what else is coming up:
